HIKE Presentation at Bethel No. 2 – Wed. July 3, 2013

2013 Fall HIKE Walk and Presentation

The next time you see a planned event for HIKE, please join in.  Your participation in these events are important to ensure that all of the young people are allowed to receive assistive devices to change their lives forever. Please make your donation so you are able to see the happiness these young people give back upon receiving their device.

The HIKE Fund, Inc. is a non-profit charity organization 501(c)3.  It is the philanthropic project of Job’s Daughters International and is governed by a separate Board of Directors and rules and regulations.  In Oklahoma, these young women raise the funds in various ways and then are honored to be able to personally present the award to recipients.

The purpose of the Fund is to provide hearing devices for children with hearing losses between the ages of newborn and twenty years, whose parents are unable to meet this special need financially.  The Fund has awarded many types of devices including, but not limited to, hearing aids, FM systems, closed caption converters, tactile units, alerting systems, and specialized sports equipment, to aid children with hearing loss.

The HIKE Fund Application

Should you desire to make application, please click on the HIKE Fund Application above.  This link will take you directly to the application. This is a six (6) page document and all of the pages. The application is a PDF Fill-In-The-Blank form and can be completed while online.  Please follow all of the instructions so that all of the items are completed prior to mailing it in.  The Grant Application will be reviewed by the HIKE Board to insure that all items and need is verified.  Children are initially eligible to receive a grant providing the need is verified by a prescription from an audiologist or physician.

Comments From Some Of The Parents Of Recipients

  • One Mother said through tears; “My son, for the first time in his life, will be able to hear my voice”.
  • Another Mother relates that after her daughter was fitted with a new device to see if it would help, “We walked out the door at the center and she looked up at me and said, ‘listen Mommy, the birds sing”.
  • The parents of a two year-old said that in just a short time their son stated he could hear the telephone ring, and the baby crying.
  • A Grandmother said her young granddaughter can now hear the sounds that we take for granted.
